Integrity and Personal Service
You have come to my website because you are seeking an attorney to help you, and in that process you want to know something about me. I know that seeking legal counsel is overwhelming, specially if there is an urgent matter pending. I am retired, but I may still be able to help.
For twenty-seven years I practiced law in Oregon, where I successfully stood up for the rights of individuals and small businesses against powerful governmental and private interests. In each case, whether in state or federal court, I provided to my client the value of world-class legal experience driven by loyalty and a steadfast desire for justice. I considered each client's situation as unique, and there was nothing routine about the quality of the service which I provided. As with my practice model, for any law practice, initial counseling should include a careful evaluation of the client's situation and legal posture on a non-emotional basis, followed by exploration of alternative courses of action and the level of effort required to obtain relief.
When negotiating in the context of potential or pending litigation, and informed by my trial experience, I knew what the stakes were. Accordingly, I would bring to bear all of my experience to obtain an out-of-court settlement for my client. However, when opposing counsel was inflexible and negotiating became no more than an exercise in futility, I would vigorously and intelligently fight in court for my client. The courtroom wasn't perfect, but for me it was the church of reason.
My greatest victories were in the areas of federal civil forfeiture, real estate transactions, aviation, interstate motor carrier law, insurance coverage disputes and family law. However, early on, I excelled in criminal defense where I developed my expertise in trying cases to juries. My practice was underpinned by legal services which were rational, expeditious, long-lasting, and in line with the ethical standards set by the Oregon State Bar. Today, with that ethic in mind, I mentor new lawyers to whom I refer clients who still call on me for legal services. So, please, feel free to call on me.
